Hendersonville Medical Center Names Sherry Cox New Director of Emergency Services

HENDERSONVILLE, TN (July 30, 2007) - Sherry Cox, RN, has been named the new Director of Emergency Services at Hendersonville Medical Center. In her new position, Cox will direct and oversee the day-to-day operations of the hospital’s emergency care services, facilities, and personnel.

“Sherry has an outstanding track record in making measurable improvements in emergency services,” said Lisa Gann, CNO of Hendersonville Medical Center. “We’re fortunate to have her on our team.”

Serving Hendersonville Medical Center since 1997, Cox started her career at the hospital serving as the Director of Risk Management and Education.  She then went on to serve as the Director of Emergency Services. She subsequently served as Emergency Preparedness Coordinator along with developing and implementing the Stroke Program during that time. 

Prior to her recent naming as Director of Emergency Services, Cox served three years as Hendersonville's Director of Education, providing staff sufficient and appropriate orientation, training and education opportunities to assist individuals in fulfilling their job responsibilities at Hendersonville and Portland Medical Centers. 

Cox is a certified emergency nurse, trauma nurse specialist, Advanced Life Support Provider and Pediatric Life Support Provider and Educator. 

Cox received her Associate of Science in Nursing degree at Union University in Jackson, TN.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Alabama, Capstone College of Nursing, in Tuscaloosa, AL.
